How do I find the flaw in my sprinkler system?

I recently bought a new house. The sprinkler system works great, except of an area. In that area, do not turn on the sprinklers. I can hear the water initially start to go on the line, but the water does not leave the sprinklers. I do not want to unearth all my yard trying to find room on the line. Are there good ways I can find out where the leak? I've tried to make it run for about 6 hours to see if there is any inflammation in the yard and shows nothing. So any other ideas?

First, test the water meter. 1. see how fast turns when you turn its bad area and see how fast turns with a good working area. If it does slow down, or no where near as fast on the bad area, which has a bad valve, or a solenoid valve. If you spin the same speed as their loved good, that has a leak somewhere in the prevention of any water pressure. but if you have run for 6 hours and did not find bad your bet with a valve. you will not be able to fix it if it is a valve, unless you know where. need someone with a pager cable to find if you do not know where the green boxes. if you know where you are, what you can try changing the first solenoid, and if still doesn't work, reconstruction valve.
