Could make hair dark brown with light brown hair lighter kit?

First, my natural hair color is black. 2 days ago i dyed so it could be dark brown. But it turned orange brown, so I used a home kit (5 loreal brown) to be dark brown (like Johnny Depp). after yesterday, I realized it was too dark, I wondered if I bought a kit light brown (brown 4 or 3) it has much effect. btw my hair is thin. I want my hair to be a ligth Brown
