Big Plant

Big Plant
Can I plant a pepper plant in a container? My husband told me he wants one when it was too late.?

I already put in my vegetable garden and I will not change anything around just so he can have his precious pepper plant. Is there anyway that can be grown in a container next to my vegetable garden? How big of a pot that I use to hold it? Do they need to be steak to something or are themselves too?

Pepper plants are actually quite beautiful. I mix in my bed forever as mixed containers. They must be marked when the pepper is heavy.

Originally published in 1979, Geraldine Ellis Watson's Big Thicket Plant Ecology is now back in print. This updated edition explores the plant biology, ecology, geology, and environmental regions of the Big Thicket National Preserve. After decades of research on the Big Thicket, Watson concluded that the Big Thicket was unique for its biological diversity, due mainly to interactions of geology and climate. A visitor in the Big Thicket could look in four different directions from one spot and view scenes typical of the Appalachians, the Florida Everglades, a southwestern desert, or the pine barrens of the Carolinas. Watson covers the ecological and geological history of the Big Thicket and introduces its plant life, from longleaf pines and tupelo swamps to savannah wetlands and hardwood flats.

Delivers all the nutrients necessary for healthy plant growth to hydroponically-grown plants. Grow Big is engineered to release these properly to prevent burning. Provides lush vegetative growth. Hand-crafted in small batches for a consistent, high-quality solution. Mix 2 tablespoons of concentrate per gallon of water. Derived from: Ammonium Sulfate, Ammonium Phosphate, Urea, Blood Meal, Potassium Nitrate, Potassium Sulfate, Earthworm Castings, Norwegian Kelp, iron EDTA, zinc EDTA, manganese EDTA, copper EDTA, chelating agent, Disodium Ethylenediamine Tetra Acetate (EDTA), sodium borate, and sodium molybdate. This is a potent, fast-acting, water soluble fertilizer that encourages vigorous vegetative growth from the first week through bud set. We add earthworm castings and Norwegian kelp into this special brew to encourage sturdier, healthier stems and leaves, but we also provide enough nutrients and trace minerals to create the kind of healthy branching that you’ll need later in the season for more abundant buds and blooms. Hydro tip: Beginning the first week, use 2-3 teaspoons per gallon. Maintain pH between 5.4 and 6.8. When plants show their first sign of flowering, usually around week 5, switch to Tiger Bloom® and Grow Big®.

Southern Shade: A Plant Selection Guide Southern Shade: A Plant Selection Guide
$21.83

An expert's advice on making the most of the many extremes in southern gardenspFiguring out what to grow in the shade is challenge enough. Throw in factors that affect southern gardeners, and the topic becomes as thorny as wild blackberry. Shade varies at different times of day, and gardeners need to take this into account. Shade changes from season to season, too, even within the same yard. In Southern Shade: A Plant Selection Guide, landscape expert Jo Kellum takes the mystery out of the murky parts of the yard.pSome plants desire rich, moist soil, decaying leaves, and just a bit of sunlight that filters through leafy tree canopies. Others need shade all day long. Still others thrive in morning shade followed by afternoon sun or the reverse. Sometimes the soil beneath trees can be notoriously dry where tree roots absorb all the available moisture. Jo Kellum lets gardeners know what to grow in the gloom and illustrates her choices with over two hundred color photographs.pHomeowners need advice about landscaping workhorses for the shade-trees, shrubs, groundcovers, and vines-in addition to annuals and perennials. Unfortunately, shade gardening seems to apply mainly to dainty plants that don't solve the problem of how to fill a wet, shadowy spot or how to block the view of the neighbor's air conditioning unit.pSouthern Shade helps the gardener pick the right plant for the right kind of shady area. There are recommendations for little flowers, big trees, and everything in between. Jo Kellum's advice is simple enough for beginners yet complete enough for professionals. It makes an ideal companion when shopping.pFor those facing both shade and sun and looking for ideas suitable for sunny spots, Kellum has also written Southern Sun: A Plant Selection Guide.pJo Kellum is a landscape architect, writer, and photographer based in Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
