In composing, in the bar at the top that has bold, italics, and highlighting their features, to the right to show or hide desktop stationery. Select it then choose the stationery selection. Click "none." PS does not seem to find a dragon in mine however. Maybe there are different versions of yahoo mail.

All Day Permanent Red
$3.48 The first clash of the armies in Logue’s “Heroic . . . brilliant” version of Homer’s Iliad (The New York Times Book Review)Setting down her topaz saucer heaped with nectarine jelly,Emptying her blood-red mouth—set in her ice-white face—Teenaged Athena jumped up and shrieked:“Kill! Kill for me!Better to die than live without killing!”Who says prayer does no good?Christopher Logue’s work in progress, his Iliad, has been called “the best translation of Homer since Pope’s” (The New York Review of Books). Here in All Day Permanent Red is doomed Hector, the lion, “slam-scattering the herd” at the height of his powers. Here is the Greek army rising with a sound like a “sky-wide Venetian blind.” Here is an arrow’s tunnel, “the width of a lipstick,” through a neck. Like Homer himself, Logue is quick to mix the ancient and the new, because his Troy exists outside time, and no translator has a more Homeric interest in the truth of battle, or in the absurdity and sublimity of war. |

ALL CORVETTES ARE RED
$3.48 No other American car has the mystique and romance of the Corvette. It has been a legend for over forty years. Early in 1997 General Motors unveiled the fifth-generation Corvette. All Corvettes Are Red is the inside story of the people who made that Corvette from drawing board to assembly line. The gap between the fourth- and fifth-generation Corvettes (C4 and C5, in GM lingo) was the longest ever, and the Corvette program came close to dying. Just as serious design work was under way, GM suffered the worst losses in its corporate history, and the C5 program was put on hold. The Corvette was saved by a fiercely dedicated team of designers, engineers, and executives, who pulled together to keep their dream car alive. They overcame internal politics and company-wide budget cuts to produce a new Corvette that is better engineered, better built, and less expensive than its predecessors. Author James Schefter was granted unprecedented access to every part of GM, including areas that were off-limits to many company vice presidents. He spent eight years witnessing the C5's journey from drawing board to clay model to prototype to production vehicle. He accompanied test drivers across scorching deserts and into snow-packed mountains. As a result All Corvettes Are Red is not just the most authoritative book ever written about the Corvette, it is the most revealing account of the inner workings of the U.S. automobile industry. |

$11.36 Veteran character actor Brian Cox (BRAVEHEART, RUSHMORE) proves a magnetic leading man in the role of Avery Ludlow, a small-town war veteran on a mission of vengeance in RED, based on the 1995 novel by Jack Ketchum. Trugve Allister Diesen and Lucky McKee's film is a moving character study that plays like a vigilante thriller, a portrait of the lengths that a decent man will go to when the only thing he loves has been taken from him. A strong cast and authentic small-town locations bring this unassuming but memorable film to life. On a sleepy afternoon while fishing with his 14 year-old dog, Red, Avery Ludlow is approached by a trio of teenage boys. The conversation begins benignly enough, but when the rifle-toting boys ask for money and Avery is unable to comply, they shoot and kill Red. Grieving for the loss of his friend, a gift for his 50th birthday from his late wife, Avery tracks down the shooter's name via the store where the rifle was purchased and pays a visit to the boy's father, wealthy redneck businessman Michael McCormack (Tom Sizemore). The boy, Danny (Noel Fisher), denies shooting the dog, which sets Avery on a path of vengeance, utilizing everything from the aid of a local TV news woman (Kim Dickens) to methods more conventionally brutal.Reportedly a troubled production which saw director Diesen taking over for McKee (MAY) before the film was completed, RED is no worse for the wear. Tight, suspenseful, and touching, the film is carried on the shoulders of Cox, who paints Avery as a troubled but thoughtful man who values fairness above all else. His fine performance is bolstered by a strong supporting cast that includes Amanda Plummer and Robert Englund. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved. |

$11.36 The final installment of Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski's brilliant THREE COLORS trilogy, RED stands for Fraternity (of Liberty and Equality) in the French flag and national motto. Valentine Dussaut (the angelic Irene Jacob), a young student and model, accidentally hits a dog with her car. She attends to its injuries, only to discover that the animal's bitter owner, Judge Joseph Kern (Jean-Louis Trintignant), doesn't care for it--or anything--anymore. Valentine adopts the dog, but it runs away, straight back to the judge's home. When she returns to fetch the animal, she is shocked to find the judge eavesdropping on his neighbors' telephone conversations. Although initially morally disgusted, Valentine finds herself mesmerized by him; his sorrow and isolation intrigue her, and mirror her own feelings of sadness. Soon their relationship evolves into a platonic, yet passionate love that frees the judge from his guilt and cynicism, and opens a future of happiness for Valentine. Kieslowski's last film as a director is a bona fide work of art--aesthetically pleasing, philosophically challenging, and supremely engaging. As in the other films of the trilogy where he makes intentional use of the colors of the titles BLUE and WHITE within the films, here he employs the color red, on several levels, to further explore and illuminate the themes of this particular story. Although the director's early death was a tragic loss for the film world, his THREE COLORS trilogy will stand forever as one of cinema's most profound achievements. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. In the Red
$3.98 With his bestselling debut, Downtick, Regan C. Ashbaugh took thriller audiences by storm, drawing immediate critical comparisons to James Patterson and Thomas Harris. He earned additional praise for his exceptionally accurate portrait of Wall Street, allowing readers to experience a world Ashbaugh himself has inhabited for nearly twenty years. Now Ashbaugh returns to "the Street" he knows so well, a place where greed burns bright...but the desire to kill is the hottest flame of all. The top executives at the multibillion-dollar investment firm Morson-Grayhead are among the most powerful men on Wall Street. But all of their wealth can't help them when a killer descends on their quiet Westchester mansions. Their wives are brutally murdered. Their homes burned to the ground. And the growing panic inside Morson-Grayhead has sent shockwaves ripping through the market. It's up to Chief Fire Marshal Jake Ferguson, one of the shrewdest arson investigators in the tristate area, to bring this homicidal pyromaniac down. For Jake, it's personal -- firefighters have given their lives. And each new victim rekindles the burning pain of having tragically lost his wife, Danielle, four years earlier -- a pain that's suffocating his current relationship, Jake's first since her death. Feeling like chum in shark-infested waters, Ferguson and his deputy dive headfirst into an investigation that opens their eyes to the high-stakes game played on Wall Street. All Ferguson knows is that there is precious little time before the killer strikes another match. Little time before he becomes the next victim. Explosive and full of shocking twists, In The Red cements Regan C. Ashbaugh's place among today's top thriller writers. |

Red
$12.48 The beloved author of Refuge, Terry Tempest Williams is one of the country’s most eloquent and imaginative writers. The desert is her blood. In this potent collage of stories, essays, and testimony, Red makes a stirring case for the preservation of America’s Redrock Wilderness in the canyon country of southern Utah. As passionate as she is persuasive, Williams writes lyrically about the desert’s power and vulnerability, describing wonders that range from an ancient Puebloan sash of macaw feathers found in Canyonlands National Park to the desert tortoise–an animal that can “teach us the slow art of revolutionary patience” as it extends our notion of kinship with all life. She examines the civil war being waged in the West today over public and private uses of land–an issue that divides even her own family. With grace, humor, and compassionate intelligence, Williams reminds us that the preservation of wildness is not simply a political process but a spiritual one.“Lush elegies to the wilderness. . . . Earthy, spiritual, evocative.” —The Boston Globe“Erotic, scientific, literary. . . . Her intimacy with this landscape is complex and passionate.” —Los Angeles Times Book Review“Her finest writing . . . Use[s] pure language in the face of laws that need to be changed and lawmakers and citizens who need to understand that there is another way to see.” —Portland Oregonian |
